Spit Wine Festival Event Commercial Photography

Project title: Pintxo
Pintxo is a food photography visual guide based on Basque Pintxo culture.
The guide has been made to promote some of this Pintxos and show how easy it can be to make them without instructions.

Pintxos (pronounced peen-chos) are small portions of food eaten in bars and are an expression of miniature cuisine in the Basque Country. They come from the Spanish tradition of tapas. The design problem was to challenge the format of the classical cookbook by presenting a visual guide that would promote Basque tradition making of pintxos differently and my imagemaking/design skills. There are no instructions just layers of food to be put in order and a pintxo (stick) that will hold the food together. A digital application has been built in conjuction to show the content of the visual guide and some possible interactivity. I also created an animation. A set of postcards and bussiness cards will also be available. It is now time to enjoy Pintxo!

Shoe Collection Shoot

Karahali Home Made Sauce Logo, label and seal was designed
for a glass bottle fit. The concept behind the Logo is the South
African dessert, the bird eye chillie shape which is used to make
the sauce. The intention is to attain a home made look and feel.
The choice of typesetting is a contrast between a caligraphic
and a non sheriff that solves the problem of looking home made
and helps with readability. The brief included idea origination,
diecut design, typesetting, Calligraphic Logo, photography and illustration.

Repackaging Screenplays into Penguin Covers Danny Boyle’s Life Journey Series This brief has involved in depth research on different films, their directors and screenplay writers in order to build a strong uniting concept to attract film audiences into reading. A logo has been built according to the brief to show branding building awareness along the project. The theme selected is Danny Boyle’s Life Journeys Series. Three movies were selected. These are Simon Beaufoy’s ‘127 Hours’ and John Hodge’s ‘Trainspotting’ and ‘The Beach’ screenplays. Self-produced photographic imagery has been used (Railway, Map and Rock) to build the theme of the ‘Life Journeys Series’. Theme that has been developed from the life journeys the three characters go through in the chosen movies and how these are life changing experiences. This is one of Danny Boyle’s characteristics that reoccurs in his movies. The use of the rail track in ‘Trainspotting’ represents the path the character takes into the drug scene and crime, the rock mountain in ‘127 Hours’ represents the rock that is going to see the character’s life change as his arm gets trapped on it and the map in ‘The Beach’ is a representation of the path the character takes to discover a new paradise land in Thailand breaking from his normal life in America. The typographic content has been treated by using two weights of the Universe family. The screenplay titles (a mix of Roman and Light) were created to evoke intrigue of to what to expect, the use of a light-weight represents the character who is living a life different to people around them. A hierarchy has been assigned to each of the typographic elements to make them understandable and same type sizes and position were used in all three covers to attain consistency though the series.

Project title: Obsession

'Follow your most intense obsession mercilessly'

Franz Kafka

This image-making project began with the exploration of the term obsession. This series of portraits attempts to visually interpret Franz Kafka's quote by looking at the positive aspect of an obsession. The project portrays individuals becoming one with their obsession.
15 individuals were directed/photographed and their different obsessions analysed. All the images developed from the sketching out of different ideas and an open one to one conversation. The result of which was to allow the subjects to become their obsession.

Project title: Creatives & Workspaces

Exploring creatives and their working spaces, Dublin 2014. Nowadays people are becoming products of consumption and so is the artist and creative. The project is an attempt to portray the creative as a consumption item in a sneak peek format. Ten creatives and workspaces were chosen. The project collects a set of three images per creative. The artwork is presented in separate prints that mix text and image. The text was written by Eddie Lennon addressing questions such as, What does creativity mean to you? What is a creative space? When/how does a creative process start?

The work has been completed with a parallel flicker album, a digital layout placed in ISUU and a set of Business Cards.

Brief: The right to freedom of expression in Russia and the case of music Punk band Pussy Riot.
Award in animation as part of the 1 minute 1 right competition in the 6th Festival Internacional de Cine y Derechos Humanos, FIC Valencia 2014. Animation produced for Amnesty International. 

Several A3 size folded magazines. I took all the images and wrote part of the text. The project comes packed like a present.
